I also have owned a 2005 Saab 9-3 Arc and a 2007 Saab 9-3 Aero convertible. The two 9-3s were tuned. You can ask me anything about them as well.

Pics of all Saabs

1. Is it reliable?

2. Is there any aftermarket for it?

3. How Swedish it is?

Why Saab?

1. Yes. Very. Like any car, proper upkeep is key. In all three cars and almost 200,009 combined miles, the biggest issue I had was a corroded battery cable.

2. There is plenty of aftermarket for the 9-3, not for the NG 9-5. There is no stupid body kits for them, thank god.

3. They’re positively Swedish to me. YMMV

It was the only brand that genuinely excited me with their feel, driving dynamics, and appearances.

Nice, are there any exhaust systems or ECU tuning available?

I looked into a 9-5 a while back, but had to say no because I couldn't find either of those two.

I’ll go ahead and list each just because.

2005 9-3: stock 210 HP and 220 TQ. Post-tune: 260 HP and 280 TQ

2007 9-3: stock 250 HP and 258 TQ. Post-tune: 330 HP and 430 TQ.

2011 9-5: stock 220 HP and 258 TQ

Yes. There is a tuner for the 9-5 which I am planning to get. Exhaust: none. It was produced in such small numbers (11,000 worldwide) so the market isn’t there

None of them. That was the previous generation 9-3.

Interesting, I like them but I’m not a huge fan of the GM partsbin content.

I’m fine with it because without that GM partbin, Saab would have died a long time ago and this beautiful 9-5 wouldn’t have existed.

Plus cheaper parts ftw

Haha, that too also. It’s a really good looking car though, you should totally get the turbine style wheels for it.

No difference. Other than the increased power and speed of course.
